Evelyn Connelly, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker practicing in our St. Charles Office, has more than 20 years’ experience as an early childhood educator and clinical therapist, with additional certifications in helping clients work through trauma and experience helping chronically ill children and their families. Ms. Connelly believes in a strength-based approach to help individuals and families develop and maintain a growth-based mindset.

“I believe that families and couples are the experts on themselves and that the challenges they face are a result of adaptive behavioral patterns that are no longer effective in their current environment.”

Family and Couples Counseling

Ms. Connelly has worked with a wide range of families, couples, individuals, and children, including families in early education programs, the foster care system, and a children’s hospital as well as in private practice. Her approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Theraplay, parent-child interactive therapy, trauma focused-CBT, and emotion-focused couples therapy.

“I believe that growth and healing begin within relationships. Along with adapting treatment to meet the unique needs of individuals and families, my priority is to establish an environment that provides a sense of safety within the therapeutic relationship.“

Ms. Connelly completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI., and her master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. She is certified in trauma focused-CBT from West Penn Allegheny Health System and received a certificate in marriage and family therapy from Michigan State University. She has taught social work classes at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, MI., and Michigan State University as well as conducted trainings for professionals and parents on trauma and attachment, child development, sibling relationships and parenting. Ms. Connelly has continued her professional development with hundreds of hours of continuing education in couples’ therapy, play therapy, trauma, adoption, and attachment.
