Diagnoses, Tests for Learning Disabilities and ADHD

Charles Berthold, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist who performs psychological testing in the St. Charles office. With more than 30 years’ experience practicing psychotherapy privately and in community clinics as well as a college professor, Dr. Berthold now focuses solely on diagnostic testing for ADHD, learning disabilities and emotional disorders.

Dr. Berthold offers diagnostic testing services for children and adults. His assessments often are used to establish necessary accommodations in work or school settings to help clients diagnosed with ADHD or a learning disability to succeed.

“Psychological evaluations are by their nature speculative inquiries into the cognitive and emotional processes of the examinees. As such, they provide a sample of behaviors, which have a high probability of being representative of the examinee's true nature.”

As part of the testing process, several assessment tools are used, measuring different aspects of the examinee's mental processes, in an attempt to ensure the results are as accurate as possible. This variety of perspectives, filtered through Dr. Berthold’s clinical judgment, generally yields relevant, valid results. No single test is indicative by itself of the existence of any disorder.

Dr. Berthold received his doctorate in counseling psychology and his master’s in education from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. He engaged in undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
