Rosemary Taylor, Ph.D.

Children, Adolescents, and Adults

Rosemary Taylor, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist in our St. Charles and Oak Brook offices with more than 20 years’ experience. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Mississippi and did her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

With particular interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression, Dr. Taylor uses a combination of strategies in her cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, including visualization, positive self-statements, relaxation techniques, desensitization, and mindfulness. She also works to help children and adults strengthen their self-esteem. When appropriate, Dr. Taylor also turns to techniques from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

“My treatment philosophy, based on the theory of Positive Psychology, seeks to make normal life more fulfilling. My job is to help clients navigate life successfully and nurture their resilience, patience, and open-mindedness. I believe in cultivating a client’s individual strengths as a buffer against all that life can throw at you.”

Therapeutic Style

With her calm, reassuring manner, Dr. Taylor offers a safe place to talk about issues, and helps clients to gain a better understanding of themselves, which can lead to improved relationships with family and friends. She demonstrates respect for each person with whom she works, listens to their concerns, and offers collaboration and holistic strategies that consider the needs of the whole person.

“I believe therapy is a very special place where people can learn to deal with their life problems and emotional pains, or to develop and learn to implement goals for improving their life in a safe and non-threatening environment.”

In her work with children and adolescents, Dr. Taylor strives to help them feel confident about themselves, develop better communication skills, and enhance their peer relationships. In addition, Dr. Taylor works with the parents of her younger clients, acknowledging their frustrations and supporting them in finding practical solutions to help benefit their children.
