Christy Pitol, LCSW

Christy Pitol is a licensed clinical social worker who graduated from University of Louisville with a master’s in social work.  She also has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Southern Illinois University.

Through her 31 years of experience, Ms. Pitol has worked with young children, adolescents and adults in residential, home and community settings. These experiences include working with children experiencing trauma, integrating families, adopting children and working with adults and children with disabilities.  For 13 years she managed a team of bereavement specialists who assisted the community at large with support services related to various loss experiences.

Ms. Pitol has provided group and individual therapy in a private practice setting to all age groups dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive behaviors and chemical dependency. She also enjoys working with couples and achieved much success in helping them find harmony and common ground in their relationship.

Her approach always emphasizes social work values of self-determination and strengths of the individual. Ms. Pitol uses evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to enhance coping skills and overall functioning. Ms. Pitol is also trained in family system theory and this approach is also utilized in her work.
